Two weeks ago, I announced that my next release will be a book of connected horror stories taking place in the fictional town of San Palmo. This Town is Sick is half folk horror, half suburban horror, and all me. Well today, I bring news that the official release date is June, Friday the 13th. Oh, and that the preorder is officially available.
I find that writing short stories and novels require the flexing of two very different muscles, a lot like the fast-twitch and slow-twitch muscles in our bodies. One is for quick, powerful movements, while the other is more endurance-oriented. That made the development of This Town is Sick an exciting process for me. To create a book that was doing both of those things at once was an entirely new kind of workout, and it forced me to think on my feet. Beyond that, I also pushed myself to use a mixture of forms, tenses, perspectives and genders, not only to represent different aspects of life in San Palmo, but to keep things interesting for the reader and, just as importantly, for myself. The result was one bumpy ride for me, and, I hope, an interesting one for you.
Will this be available in paperback? I don't own a kindle (and honestly find it hard to read long stories on a screen, so I will be ordering more of your books in paperback!)
